What Students and Families Can Expect

Questions Worth Asking Any Provider
These questions separate providers more reliably than testimonials do, and they should be put to every college on a shortlist, including this one.
- How many timetabled hours a week, per subject? Answers vary far more than fees do, and most providers do not publish the figure. Part-time study here is three hours a week per subject, and full-time is five.
- What is the maximum class size? Ask for the maximum rather than the average. Here it is twelve, with a target of eight.
- Which specification, by code? The name of an awarding body is not an answer. A code is.
- Is examination entry included? Frequently it is not, and it is typically charged at between £160 and £555 per subject.
- For the sciences, is the practical endorsement delivered? Without it a science A Level is incomplete, and it cannot be delivered remotely by anyone. How the endorsement block works.
- Who writes the reference and the predicted grade, and on what evidence? A prediction issued without marked work carries little weight with an admissions tutor.
