GCSE Mathematics

Foundation and Higher tiers. The November series is open to Mathematics and English Language only, which is set by the awarding bodies rather than by us. Four hours of teaching a week, in a group small enough that the teacher knows where you are losing marks.

Why Study GCSE Mathematics Here

Four hours a week, in a group small enough that somebody notices when you are struggling.

Teachers from Russell Group Universities

Every teacher here is a graduate of a Russell Group university and teaches their own subject. You are taught by a specialist who knows the specification and the examiners’ reports, not by a generalist covering four subjects.

Progress Tracked Against a Target

You get a target grade from your diagnostic, then regular marked work measured against it. When the gap is not closing we say so early, while there is still time to change something.

Mock Examinations Under Real Conditions

Timed, invigilated and marked to the board’s mark scheme, with feedback broken down by question rather than a single grade. Sitting a paper properly before the real one is the cheapest improvement available.

Pastoral Care That Notices

Small groups, a named point of contact, and attendance that somebody actually looks at. Most resit years fail quietly rather than dramatically, and the fix is noticing early.

Flexible Study Options

Weekends, weekday evenings, one year full time or an Easter intensive. The specification and the papers are identical; what changes is when you are in the building, so the course fits around work, school or another provider.

A Free Diagnostic Before You Commit

A past paper under timed conditions, marked and discussed, before you enrol and before you pay anything. It is how the target grade is set, and occasionally how we tell someone that this is not the right year for them.

Where GCSE Mathematics Leads

A grade 4 or above in Mathematics and English is the gate almost everything else sits behind.

  • A-Level Study

Most A-Level courses assume a grade 6 in the subject, and the sciences assume GCSE content you will be examined on again. Our A-Level subjects.

  • Apprenticeships and Employment

Grade 4 in Mathematics and English is a common minimum for apprenticeships, nursing routes and public sector entry.

  • University, Later

Universities check GCSE Mathematics and English at application, whatever your A-Level grades. Medicine and teaching set the bar higher again.
